Made it to Maryland

And what a beautiful drive it was. I rode 220 most of the way and it feels like it came up a valley the whole way following a picturesque stream. The road rises and falls and twists and turns. Just beautiful. It was two lanes most of the way, but there was little traffic. I stopped and shot some pics on my film camera and I will post them, assuming they come out ok. Film is a lot of fun, but sometimes it is nice…

When the past comes alive…

So this morning started with a bike ride from the campsite across Gathwright Dam. I know the six miles don’t seem like much but the over 1,000 ft climb gave this Flat Carolina boy something to think about. And then off to Hot Springs (www.discoverbath.com). I lived here (twice, actually) in the late 80’s to early 90’s. I have been trying to recall, but I don’t think I have been back since I moved out. What a grand place. It was great to see what…

Mea culpa…

So much going on and such a poor job of updating. And what an adventure so far. As I type this, I have made it to Morris Hill Campground in western VA. Tent is set up and I made a nice Cuban sandwich (minus the press) for dinner. And now a nice cigar and a beer by the campfire. So the highlights to date… Saturday started with a quick stop at a big yard sale to see if there were any good bargains an then…

Itinerary complete!

So the week looks like this: Richmond, VA Morris Hill Campground, VA Rocky Gap State Park, MD Sinnemahoning State Park, PA Watkins Glen State Park, NY All new territory for me. Any tips? Now to just get meals ready and packed…

Making lemonade…

Well not literally. You know the old saying, an I suppose life has handed me some lemons with this whole unemployment thing. However, I did get a chance to spend some extra time on the production of Picnic I was involved in and now I am taking advantage of the opportunity again. Time off in the summer and the fact that the internet is basically everywhere (in case someone wants to talk about a job) have combined to give me a chance for a fun…

Lot’s of free time…

But not necessarily in a good way. This latest adventure (that of unemployment) is not necessarily one I was looking for. But, as they say, the music stopped and I didn’t have a chair. So what can you do. A good interview recently gives me hope and so on we go… One bonus is that I have always wanted to take the week of a show off. And I at least I can do that now. I am working on a community theater production of…
