Apparently, if you want to camp (legally) on Memorial Day weekend you need reservations. I found that out on Tuesday as I realize in had a long weekend coming up. My plan was to hike with the Greenville GOPC crew and then camp for the weekend.  That didn’t work out. Neither did my plan B.   The hike was grand. We did about 10 miles of the NC Mountain to Sea trail in Falls Lake State Park. But then… What to do? I tried several…

OK, so I am a little late to the Memorial Day weekend planning party. A check of the PocketRanger app showed that there was not a camp site to be had within a reasonable driving distance. Apparently people plan ahead for this? So what is a poor boy to do? Then I ran across an email from a local Meetup group. They had three camp sites in a nice park and spaces still available. So I sent in my reservation. Now I am off to…

May the fourth

The approaching of Star Wars Day has me thinking about holidays in general. And I have decided that I would swap out my holidays if I could. Let’s face it all of our current holidays are contrived and/or over commercialized. Maybe it is time to celebrate a day that doesn’t have an unbelievable, below invoice, crazy, never again seen prices sale.
