Finished standing up…

Races completed and I finished the way I like to… vertically. One could be picky and wish that I had run the half about 10 minutes faster, but it was Ocracoke and that doesn’t always lead to early nights, if you get my drift. Anyway, to be super racer or anything, but the training plan called for 3 mile run the day before the race, and there was a 5k also, so why not get two tee shirts. A tee shirt and a cause an…

#OptOutside

I really enjoyed the #OptOutside movement this past week. Thanksgiving is great and there is a lot to be said for a wonderful meal and family gathered. But to then immediately slam that into a huge shopping frenzy? Too much for me. Three years ago I started taking a camping trip for the long Thanksgiving weekend. And it is a lot of fun. So the weekend started off with a nice social 22.5 mile bike ride at the Kinston BBQ festival (which…

Adventures of the volunteering kind…

So for the sake of seeing something from the other side, this weekend I am off to volunteer for the Flying Pirate 1/2 marathon.  Gonna see what it is like to be on the sidelines for once. And also that means a night of camping on the Outer Banks so it is a win/win. And while I am on that subject, what’s up with all the campgrounds not taking reservations? I may end up with a tent on the roadside.  See… adventure abounds…
